DC statehood bill, H.R. 51, this week got a new boost in congress with a record 202 co-sponsors, bringing a renewed hope for the much awaited statehood recognition for the over 760,000 DC residents.
The bill was initially passed last summer by the house with 155 co-sponsors. However, it did not gain any traction in the senate due to lack of support from the Republicans.
