After close to 20 years, Ward 8 is set to be home to the newest Recreational Center in DC.
Earlier this week, DC mayor Muriel Bowser led community leaders in breaking ground for what is arguably the newest Rec Center in Anacostia. The new center which will be located right behind Ketcham Elementary School is estimated to cost $15 million .
According to Mayor Bowser, the new center will house a fitness center, a gymnasium, class rooms, and a kitchen. The center will also have a field for sports, lit walking paths, a basketball court and playgrounds.
This Rec center will especially play a critical role in keeping our young people active and safe. -Mayor Bowser.
