President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden this week officially lit the National Christmas Tree at the Ellipse in Presidents Park.
The fridgid DC night temperatures didnt appear to dampen the spirit of the crowd who eagerly awaited as the President and the First lady were joined by LL CoolJ, Andy Grammer,Yolanda Adams, Shania Twain and Gloria Estefan to perfom popular melodious holiday classics.
This year’s 27 foot tree which was decorated with 64 000 lights was donated from North Carolina to mark the 100th annivesary of the National Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony.
For 100 years, Americans have gathered at the White House to celebrate the holiday season with the lighting of the National Christmas Tree.Through seasons and struggle and strife, progress and prosperity, for a century and counting, we’ve come together in a spirit of unity and joy, hope and light and so we do today, with an eternal spirit of our nation as well. – President Biden
