DC Fire And EMS Has Appointed Its First  Female Assistant Fire Chief In 135 Years

DC Fire and EMS this week announced that it will be promoting Queen Anunay as its new Assistant Fire Chief.

Anunay is a DC native and a 30-year veteran of DC Fire and EMS. She  is a graduate of Eastern High School, and has been with the agency since joining as a Cadet in 1991. She will primarily be in charge of the EMS branch.

I hope that this accomplishment can be seen as proof that breaking barriers is possible with discipline and hard work, when given the opportunity. I have stood on the shoulders of many giants to reach this level and that includes men and women of all nationalities.
