German discount supermarket chain Lidl Stiftung & Co. KG, popularly known as “Lidl” is a coming to DC. The new store will occupy the Skyland Town Center in ward 7, and is expected to open its doors sometime in 2020.
According to Lidl US, this is part of its ongoing expansion along the East Coast, to open 25 new stores in Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Virginia by spring of 2020. The company expects to sell its award-winning products in more than 100 stores and create more than 1,000 new jobs across nine states by the end of next year.
